CDCR regulations totally screw over CA, voters…WE MUST ACT NOW & FAST!!!!

CDCR has finally discharged their draft Emergency Regulations on how they will actualize Prop 57! These are Emergency Regulations, which means we just have a 5-day open remark period, so we need to act now and very fast.

Summary of the Regulations:
Non-violent early parole:
  • Initial screening for nonviolent parole (to determine if the “nonviolent” offense is eligible) begins June 1, 2017; second screening (to review rules violations, etc) begins July 1, 2017
  • Parole process will be a “paper process”, not a formal hearing
  • People who have to register as sex offenders will be excluded
  • Third-Strikers will be excluded
  • If a person is eligible, they will be notified by their counselors
Credit-Earning:
  • Effective May 1, 2017, good time credits to be expanded from 15% to 20% for people with “violent” offenses or Lifers with the possibility of parole
  • Effective May 1, 2017, good time credits to be expanded from 20% to 33% for people with “serious” offenses
  • Effective May 1, 2017, two-for-one good time credits awarded to people already eligible for fire camps, 50% credits for people with violent offenses who go to fire camps
  • Effective August 1, 2017, everyone now eligible for Milestones, earn a max of 12 weeks per year (up from 6 weeks)
  • Effective August 1, 2017, completion of 208 hours of Inmate Leisure Time Activity Groups (ILTAG) will earn additional 4 weeks off per year
  • Effective August 1, 2017, one-time retroactive 3 month credits will be awarded for earning HS diploma or GED
  • Effective August 1, 2017, one-time retroactive 6 month credits will be awarded for earning AA, BA, Postgraduate degree, or Offender Mentor Certification Program
